Retired Luis Corazo faces Angel Ruiz in Florida on Wednesday

Luis Collazo isn’t ready to take off his gloves yet.

Former world welterweight titleholder Collazo will take on fringe contender Angel Ruiz on Wednesday night at the Whitesands (also known as ProBox TV) Event Center in Plant City, Florida. The ten-round match will headline a three-match card that will be streamed live on the ProBox TV app or YouTube page (9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT).

“This Wednesday is a really fun card,” ProBox TV executive Chris Glover told The Ring on Monday. “Luis Collazo still wants to run one more time, so for him he definitely has to win. know.

“The televised portion of the event is three action, quality fights. It’s a great mid-week fix for boxing fans.”

Collazo (39-8, 20 knockouts) is from Brooklyn, NY and currently lives in Riverview, Florida. No decision for undefeated Eimantas Stanionis in August 2021. His previous fight came in October 2019, when he lost to welterweight contender Kudratillo Abdukakhorov via technical decision.

The 41-year-old won the WBA world welterweight title in April 2005, defeating Jose Antonio Rivera in a split decision. Collazo made one successful defense, stopping Miguel Angel Gonzalez, before losing the world title to Ricky Hatton in May 2006.

Collazo has faced former world title holders such as Victor Ortiz, Andre Berto, Amir Khan and Keith Thurman.

Luis (17-2-1-12 KOs) is from Culiacan, Mexico and now lives in Los Angeles. In his previous fight in October 2021, Lewis lost to undefeated welterweight Giovanni Santilan by unanimous decision.

The 25-year-old southpaw has won one of his last four matches.

In the co-feature, Vadim Musaev will take on Martin Alvarez in a six-round welterweight bout.

Musayev (5-0, 2 KOs), from Pervomaisky, Russia, now living in Hollywood, Fla., stopped former prospect Ember Hariri in the opening round of his final bout on Sept. 9. .

Alvarez (7-0, 6 KOs) last fought on November 13, defeating Giovani Armenta Indunza by split decision. Alvarez, who lives in Los Mochis, Mexico, has never faced a player with a winning record.

The first match of the ProBox TV stream will see undefeated junior lightweight Prince Jani (23-0, 19 KOs) from Accra, Ghana face off against Tijuana’s Jose Salas in a 10-round bout.
