LCS veteran Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen has announced that he will be retiring from League of Legends competition and will only use coaching opportunities from now on.

After nine years in the LCS, Danish League of Legends pro Svenskeren has decided to hang up his keyboard and mouse to transition to a coaching role.The former player announced his retirement on May 3. twitter.

“Nine years in the LCS. Seven-time finalist. Five-time World Championship. And countless memories with amazing teammates, friends and fans. I will cherish every moment forever! , I look for coaching opportunities,” he said.

The Danish player has been competing professionally for over ten years, having started his career in Europe with team 3DMAX in 2011. His last appearance for the Rift was with the TSM Challengers team in the North American Challengers League.

LCS veteran Svenskeren wants to move to coaching

Prior to joining the LCS, Svenskeren qualified for the EU LCS with the Copenhagen Wolves and rose to fame in Europe alongside recently retired League of Legends Søren ‘Bjergsen’ Bjerg.

He then came to play for TSM in North America after battling SK Gaming for a little over two years in 2016.

In the LCS, Svenskeren has played for TSM, Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses. He eventually earned North American residency and no longer counts as an importer on the LCS roster, and he earned the league’s League MVP award in his split in the 2019 Summer. In 2018 he used Cloud9 as Svenskeren to finish in the top four at the League of Legends World Championship, where he lost 3-0 to Fnatic.

However, the Danish player hasn’t seen an LCS stage in a while as he made his last appearance in the starting squad for EG in 2021.

The currently retired player will be vying for coaching jobs during the spring and summer splits as teams that failed to qualify for the Midseason Invitational bolster their staff.
