Dana White is fine with Henry Cejudo possibly retiring again after losing to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 288 last Saturday. and sought a direct championship opportunity against reigning champion Sterling, who has had two successful defenses on his resume so far.

The “Funk Master” added his third defense with a split decision victory over Cejudo, who was caught on camera with his gloves off after a very close match. Taking off the gloves is one sign that a player is retiring, but ‘Triple C’ hasn’t gone so far as to announce whether it was actually in his post-fight plans.

“It was a close fight, but Aljamain did his job and got the win,” Cejudo said in a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. It’s been three years and I don’t know where to go from here Joe I’m a little confused right now whether I continue or not — if I’m not the first it’s [fictional character from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby] Ricky Bobby, if I’m not the first, I’ll be the last.

“If I didn’t beat Arjo, my biggest goal was to get to 145 pounds,” Cejudo continued. “If I didn’t beat him, I don’t know where that would put me.”

As stated in a post-fight interview with Logan, a Fight Ready rep said he wants to speak with UFC president Dana White and his wife to determine what happens after this loss. .

“I have to relax,” Cejudo said at the post-match press conference. “My wife is pregnant. We are preparing to have another child. I love spending time with my child, I love playing with her, and losing weight, not hugging her, ignoring her, having a training partner play with her is a big deal for me. It makes sense. A lot of people don’t give af-k, but time with my kids means the world to me.

Dana White’s thoughts on Henry Cejudo’s possible retirement

Dana White has mentioned another possible retirement from Cejudo, and the UFC president wants to leave that decision to the former champion. White was impressed with his performance against Sterling, but said he would stand by Cejudo whether he stayed or left.

“There are only a few players I’ve tried to talk about retiring,” White said at the post-match press conference. “it was [Daniel Cormier] and [Khabib Nurmagomedov]Henry has been out of work for three years. He looked great tonight against a much bigger, much stronger man.

“It’s up to him,” White continued. “Whatever he wants. I mean, I don’t think he should have retired the first time, but if he decided to retire a second time, I probably wouldn’t argue with him.

Henry Cejudo’s Next Choice

If Cejudo decides to stay, there are several options he will consider in his next game. UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno told Cejudo to “wait for him” after his defense against Alexandre Pantoja. In Cejudo’s case, he would accept a fight with “Assassin Baby” — for a good deal.

“If the UFC wants to put it together and we both have a decent budget,” Cejudo said. You can do it, and I’m not against any of it.”

Cejudo also entertained Merabd Barishvili, another student on the Sela Longo fight team who declared “easy money” if Cejudo would fight.
