Cash Wheeler confirms FTR will (nearly) retire after current AEW contract ends

Retirement

After re-signing four-year contracts with AEW earlier this year, FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler announced they plan to retire from full-time competition after their contracts expire. During a recent appearance on FTLOW, Wheeler confirmed that’s still their plan.

“We said we had a four-year deal, but when it’s over, sometimes I might come out because I love wrestling and I have to wrestle here and there,” Wheeler said. said Mr. “But I’ll definitely be done with full-time work, probably in four years.” I shared that I plan to create one.

After a three-month hiatus from travel and screen appearances, FTR bet their AEW career on an AEW World Tag Team Championship match against The Guns on the April 5 episode of AEW Dynamite. Fans knew that the outcome would determine whether the team left or stayed in AEW, but sure enough, FTR won the match and won their second AEW Tag Team Title.

During his hiatus, Harwood launched the “FTR with Dax” podcast, and his remarks seemed to heat up the AEW locker room. Back on the road, Harwood announced that the podcast was ending because it appeared to be doing more harm than good to the industry.

Looking ahead, FTR will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 28. Mark Brisco will serve as a special guest referee for the match.
